Tooth extraction

If a tooth has been broken or damaged by decay, your dentist will try to fix it with a filling, crown or other treatment. Sometimes, though, there’s too much damage for the tooth to be repaired. In this case, the tooth needs to be extracted. A very loose tooth also will require extraction if it can’t be saved”.

What is an extraction?

An extraction means to have a tooth removed, usually because of disease, trauma or crowding.

What is the procedure??

If you need an extraction, your dentist will first numb the area to lessen any discomfort. After the extraction, your dentist will advise you of what post extraction regimen to follow. In most cases a small amount of bleeding is normal. Your mouth will slowly fill in the bone where the tooth root was through the formation of a blood clot.

What is the aftercare?

  • Avoid anything that might prevent normal healing.
  • Don’t smoke or rinse your mouth vigorously.
  • Avoid drinking through a straw for 24 hours.
  • Follow the diet your dentist suggests.

For the first few days, if you must rinse, rinse your mouth gently. If you experience swelling, apply a cold cloth or an ice bag and call your dentist right away. Ask your dentist about pain medication. You can brush and floss the other teeth as usual. But don’t clean the teeth next to where the tooth was removed.

Is the time bad afterwards?

In our gentle and gentle procedure, the small wounds in the mouth heal after a wisdom tooth operation very quickly and without significant pain. It is very important to completely refrain from smoking in the first week after wisdom tooth surgery and to use the prescribed mouthwash regularly. If you have problems after wisdom tooth surgery, we are always there for you.

How is the surgery going?

First, the wisdom teeth are locally stunned. This makes the whole process completely painless. If the wisdom teeth already visible in the mouth, it is often sufficient to loosen them with a small lever and then pull with pliers. If the wisdom teeth are still hidden under the gum, the gum is previously opened with a small incision. Sometimes, some bone around the crown needs to be removed with a small bur. If the wisdom teeth have very bent roots pointing in different directions, they can not be removed in one piece. In such a case, the tooth is split with a fine drill and can then be removed very gently, piece by piece.
